The Development Communication Research Association of Nigeria (DECRAN), founded on March 12, 2024, aims to unite development communication researchers, educators, practitioners, and students both nationally and internationally. Initially formed with 17 members, DECRAN has now grown to over 70 members from universities across Nigeria. Under the leadership of Dr. Blessing Chinweobo-Onuoha, DECRAN fosters a vibrant community dedicated to advancing communication for sustainable development.

DECRAN’s core objectives include strengthening collaboration among development communication professionals, providing a platform for academic and policy discussions, and promoting excellence in research and learning. Through conferences, symposiums, workshops, and outreach programs, DECRAN facilitates the exchange of ideas and promotes innovative solutions to development challenges.

Membership in DECRAN is open to scholars, practitioners, students, development workers, media professionals, and anyone passionate about using communication to drive positive social change. DECRAN is also committed to publishing high-quality research through the International Journal of Development Communication Research (IJDCR), a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that promotes scholarship and knowledge exchange in development communication.
